Frequently asked questions
Everything you say in session is confidential, with a few legal exceptions. These include:
• If there is harm to yourself or others
• If there is reasonable cause to suspect neglect or abuse towards a vulnerable population, such as children, the elderly, or the disabled
• If I'm subpoenaed to court and/or have to facilitate an investigation or inspection authorized by warrant or by any provincial or federal law
• If you, as the client, become physically or mentally unable to provide consent (e.g., unconscious, in medical crisis, or severely mentally impaired), I may need to contact a trusted person (like a family member, friend, or legal substitute decision-maker)
• If the CRPO is investigating a registrant (like me, the therapist) - due to a complaint, concern, or as part of their regular Quality Assurance assessments, I may be required to share client records or other information with the College
The first session is about getting to know each other. We'll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, background/family of origin, cultural/religious background, lifestyle/hobbies and more! From here we can decide together how we might work moving forward. It’s a space for you to share at your own pace!
I offer 50 minute and 80 minute sessions. 50 minute sessions are the most common and standard length of a therapy session. This allows for a good balance to check in on current concerns, explore patterns and challenges, and introduce/discuss coping tools or strategies.
However, sometimes 50 minutes doesn't feel like enough time. 80 minute sessions can help can be especially helpful for couples where more time in the session can help us cover more, or for individuals who would benefit from the extra time to address complex challenges, discuss a new or immediate (but non-emergency) situation. Some clients simply enjoy and benefit from the extra time to process and connect.
I do not offer direct billing, but many extended health plans cover therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Please check with your provider for details. I provide receipts from every session for reimbursement.
I offer secure virtual therapy for clients across Ontario, Canada. I currently do not offer in-person sessions.
Individual therapy is $160 and relationship therapy is $180 per session. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need.
I require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Missed sessions or late cancellations will be subject to the full session fee.
You can book a free 15-minute consultation or go directly to the booking page to schedule your first session. I’m happy to answer any questions you have before we begin!
