Firefighter Observes Forest Fire

First Responder &
Front-Line Therapy

The demands of being a first responder and front-line worker can take a serious toll - physically, mentally, and emotionally. You may find yourself feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, running on autopilot, or unsure how to process everything you carry. If you’re looking for a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re going through, and reconnect with yourself beyond the job or uniform - we can work together to to unpack what's been pushed aside. You are not alone, and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

What I Help With:

I support individuals who are first responders and front-line workers who often carry immense pressure - physically, mentally, and emotionally. High stress environments where helping others comes first, and quick decisions, can leave you feeling lost and like you've lost touch with your inner world. You might find yourself being unsure who you are beyond your uniform, role, or responsibilities, or operating on autopilot. These experiences and disconnection can lead to numbness, irritability, or confusion about what you truly need, want, or feel. When the focus is always on serving others, your own emotions, needs, and values can get pushed aside. You might feel unsure what brings you joy anymore, overwhelmed when trying to focus on yourself, or feeling guilty for slowing down.

Does any of the following resonate with you?

  • Feeling unsure of who you are outside of your job or uniform?

  • Struggling with the unpredictable and demanding nature of your work?

  • Finding it hard to rest, relax, or let your guard down?

  • Feeling disconnected from your passion, interests, or sense of purpose?

  • Struggling with changes in your mood, sleep, or relationships?

  • Finding yourself putting on a strong front, even when you're struggling internally?

How I Can Help:

I offer a safe, nonjudgmental, and affirming space for you to process what you’ve been through at your own pace. Together, we will explore your inner world - your thoughts, emotions, needs, values, and desires, as well as your outer world - relationships, roles, habits, and daily life to help you reconnect with your inner voice and sense of self. This process can include building self-trust, setting boundaries, unlearning patterns that no longer serve you, and learning to express your needs with confidence. We will also explore interests, hobbies, and activities, that genuinely resonate with you, helping you create a life that feels aligned and meaningful to who you are.

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and rooted in respect for your unique journey. We may draw on tools from modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The most effective approach will vary depending on your specific experiences and needs, as well as what feels right for you.

Rediscovering who you are beneath your uniform or role can feel challenging. This space is here for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, needs, and values with compassion and curiosity. Small steps toward reconnecting with your true self start here!
